Ever hear about the Darwin Awards? I have not looked at the site in over a year now. But a news article caught my eye and I instantly thought, that’s a candidate for a Darwin Award!

I like starwars, but this is just Beyond belief, stupid, idiotic. You get my drift!

Two Star Wars fans are in a critical condition in hospital after apparently trying to make light sabres by filling fluorescent light tubes with petrol.
A man, aged 20, and a girl of 17 are believed to have been filming a mock duel when they poured fuel into two glass tubes and lit it.

This is probably old news by now, but better than my usual droll so worth a post.
you probably saw on the news this past week squadies from the Royal Dragoon Guards recorded a video (Is This The Way To) Amarillo mimed. They did it the same fashion that Peter Kay. Seemingly it crashed a MOD Server. You Missed it? here is the BBC news link

Is the CMS stuff worth it, if i get pissed off with the phpBB security upgrades surely having a CMS will be just as bad. I may just redo the front page and ummm, reopen the forums But…. wait until phpBB 3 is out in the summer. See what happens when I have nothing to do, but if i do open it again I gotta be pro active get more users. but who knows ….

I have played about the online demo for mambo it is pretty impressive, as is geeklog however since mambo is open source it’s probably a better choice. I keep thinking it seems somewhat overkill for my needs, I think it may be worth a shot none the less One last thing to do is back up the forum database before I blitz it… oh how I had hopes for that form

So phpBB has pretty much been ditched, for now anyway. I have been looking at CMS to replace it with either mambo, geeklog or some other one I have not seen yet (php-nuke? is it secure). Of course I would install it in a temp directory first to see if its any good, perhaps it will replace most of the site with the exception of the photo gallery. I may continue the blog, may not to be honest I am bored with it now and have very little to say that’s interesting.

As soon as the demo site for mambo is back up, I can have a wee look at that. Any ideas, on other ones?

Another security update from phpBB version 2.0.15 out now, whoopee! Fuck it!!
I have once more disabled the form due to lack of interest (again), as much as I would like to leave it open for whatever reason (I can’t think of one) It just seems like to much work for nothing. As the site could or has been hacked as I learned. if there was a user base there I would be more tentative to close it, but seriously what’s the point. Spend time installing it, patching it to make a ghost town look busy. In the two or so years it’s been installed there was two heavy users, me being one.

Will I patch and re-open? Probably, Hypocrite I hear you call. But it keeps me busy.
I did think of deleting it, along with this blog to install php nuke or some sort of content management system, but security and patching, is that out of the frying pan in to the fire? Bollox!!!
