Cherry OS pt2

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

I finally attempted to Install OSX 10.3 on Cherry OS today after much delay. Boy Is it ever slow to install, after about 40 min still on CD 1 so I decided to cancel it for now. I may try it at home as I have more memory on this system; I also took some screen shots may post them later. Anyhoo I hear that Pear PC (does the same thing emulate OSX) is faster so that may be worth a try.

I have installed Linspire and Xandros on virtual pc, they seem pretty good more on that later.

Cherry OS

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

Some of you may know (or may not) I have been a fan of the virtual pc software, this enables you to run alternative operating systems in its own environment. Its great to try out linux, older MS systems, Linspire … blah blah you get the idea. But you cant run any Mac systems on it OS X ect bit of a bummer as they would be good to learn and I aint gonna buy a mac just for that ;)

So this is where cherry OS comes in. Although not the same as Virtual PC, cherry OS emulates a G4 so you can run OSX on a pc for basic stuff. anyhoo I will try this shortly and may or may not post the results here..

“Smith backs Douglas for Scotland” — BBC link

Scotland manager Walter Smith has insisted that Celtic’s Rab Douglas is still in his plans, despite the goalkeeper’s blunder against Rangers.
Douglas’ fumble allowed Rangers to take the lead in Sunday’s Old Firm derby.

But Smith said: “I took four goalkeepers to our squad gathering in Manchester earlier this month.

Oh Dear… Oh dear
I have zero confidence in Douglas, please not another humiliating defeat

I have fond memories of watching him with my nanna. He was a very funny man.
In his own (kinda) words may his god go with him

Grid

Use a program from grid.org, use them spare CPU cycles

Grid.org is a single destination site for large-scale, non-profit research projects of global significance. With the participation of over 3 million devices worldwide, grid.org projects like Cancer Research, Anthrax Research, Smallpox Research and the new Human Proteome Folding Project (running in conjunction with IBM’s new World Community Grid) have achieved record levels of processing speed and success.

I am clocking up some CPU time on it for cancer research, seems very worth while.
